Once again under great autumn weather, race 4 was held at New England Dragway. Forty-six combatants showed up for the battle. Beginning with the third round, John Gray’s 9.94 (9.93) from his A/SA ’69 Camaro nipped Tom Boucher’s 9.53 (9.52) in a very close race. Ron Morehead’s 10.00 (10.03) from his GT/JA ’82 Camaro held off Jacques Blais’ 9.90 (9.97) in a double break out affair. Marc LaBreque’s .001 initiated 10.10 (10.12) from his GT/TC ’02 S-10 would catch George LaBelle’s 11.97 (12.01) in yet another double breakout. Dave Casey’s 10.14 (10.10) form his ’69 Corvette A/S defeated Gene Monahan’s 11.88 (11.90) break out from his K/SA ’89 Firebird. In yet still another double break out, Bob Moran’s 10.03 (10.09) from his B/SA ’69 Camaro defeated Keith Sansone’s more flagrant 10.48 (10.54) from his G/SA ’66 Chevy II. Tim Stickles defeated Jim Whitehead’s SS/KA ’99 Camaro to complete the round.
Quarterfinals began with Ron Morehead defeating a red lighting John Gray 9.97 to 10.01. Dave Casey’s 10.12 (10.10) from his A/S ’69 Corvette defeated Marc LaBreque’s game 10.14 (10.09) from his GT/TC ’02 S-10 pickup. Tim Stickles defeated a red lighting Bob Moran 12.04 to 10.05 and would have a bye into the final.
Dave Casey’s 10.17 form his A/S Corvette defeated a red lighting Ron Morehead and that set the stage for the final. Tim Stickles would emerge victorious with a .022 initiated 12.14 (12.02) as Dave Casey’s (-.002) red light ended the day. Tim Stickles extended his winning ways as he had done at the Lucas Oil divisional race in Super Stock.
